Removing support for iOS 11, 12 and Android 6, 7

On January 15, 2022 we will be updating the operating systems we support for our iOS and Android mobile apps. For Android devices we will support our apps on Android 8 and above. For iPhones and iPads we will support our apps on iOS 13 and above.

These decisions are never easy to make as they affect many users who either haven't or can't update their device's operating system to one of our supported versions. We are a small team here at Padlet and we don't have the resources to ensure our apps work and are secure on older operating systems. After looking through our usage we saw that out of our entire Android user base only 0.7% are on Android 6 and 2.0% are on Android 7. On iOS, only 0.07% are on iOS 11 and 0.4% are on iOS 12. Therefore we made the decision to no longer support these versions and focus the energy of our small team into making our apps better for the overwhelming majority of our users.
