Auto-remake links for Sandbox

Turn any sandbox into a template that makes instant copies for participants.

Illustration showing one sandbox template being copied into multiple identical copies with an auto-remake link.

We launched auto-remake links for Padlet boards earlier this year. Now auto-remake links are available for sandboxes too.

When you share an auto-remake link, anyone who clicks it will get their own copy of your sandbox to work with.

This makes it easy to share sandboxes as templates and worksheets. Instead of asking people to manually copy your sandbox or making copies yourself, just share one link that does the work automatically.

Examples in action

From creative projects to structured assignments, auto-remake links help you distribute sandbox templates efficiently. Here are two examples that showcase different use cases.

Character builder worksheet with four quadrants asking about character appearance, dialogue, and descriptions around a central name box.

Character Builder Template: A creative writing worksheet where students develop their character's appearance, personality, and story. Each quadrant asks different questions about their character, with a dedicated space for drawing. When students click the auto-remake link, they get their own copy to fill with drawings and descriptions.

Scientific method template with five columns: Question, Hypothesis, Experiment, Results, and Conclusion, each with guiding sticky notes.

Scientific Method Template: A structured lab report template that guides students through each step of the scientific method. From hypothesis to conclusion, each section has clear prompts for what to include. Teachers can set up the template once and share the auto-remake link with the whole class, letting each student document their own experiment.

Setting it up

Create a sandbox, open the share panel, and look for "Auto-remake link" under Links. When you enable auto-remake links, you can:

  • Choose which objects get copied (all, none, or admin only)
  • Decide whether to add yourself as a collaborator on remade sandboxes
  • Limit users to one remake each, or let them create multiple copies with the same link

Whether you add yourself as a collaborator on the copies or not, you can access all the sandboxes made with your auto-remake link from this panel.

Auto-remake links are available now on web.

Sandbox also offers breakout links, which work like breakout rooms. Share a link to a specific card in your sandbox, and participants will only see that card and its collaborators. You control when to reveal the complete sandbox.

Auto-remake links are perfect when:

  • You want each person to have their own copy
  • You're sharing templates or worksheets
  • Everyone needs to submit individual work
  • You want to reuse the sandbox multiple times

Breakout links work better when:

  • You want to divide participants into separate spaces
  • Groups need to work independently first
  • You may plan to bring everyone together later
  • You want to control when the full sandbox is visible

For example, use auto-remake links to give each student their own lab report template. Use breakout links to separate students into groups for initial brainstorming before sharing the complete class discussion.

Coming soon

We're working on making auto-remake links available on mobile. Stay tuned!
