Caption editing and WCAG AA progress
Auto-generated captions have made video content more accessible than ever before. That's why we added auto-captions to video and audio uploads last year. But sometimes you need an extra level of control to get them exactly right.
So, we added the ability to download, edit, and re-upload your auto-generated captions. This is just one of several accessibility improvements we've been working on to give you more control and make Padlet work better for everyone.
What's new
Caption editing is complete
You can now upload your own captions. You can also download the captions we automatically generate for your audio and video uploads, edit them for accuracy, and upload the corrected version. We accept .srt and .vtt uploads; downloaded captions are always in .srt format.
Screen recorder accessibility improvements
We've updated our screen recorder with accessible UI components, ensuring it meets the same accessibility standards as the rest of Padlet. Learn more.
Significant progress toward WCAG AA compliance
Padlet boards on web are now broadly compliant with WCAG level AA standards. This represents a major step up from our previous WCAG A compliance, with more rigorous requirements for contrast, keyboard navigation, and screen reader support.
What's next
We're now focusing on bringing the same level of accessibility to our mobile apps. Our ultimate goal is WCAG AA compliance for mobile, so that Padlet works seamlessly regardless of how you access it.
As always, if you encounter any accessibility issues or have suggestions for improvements, please contact us. Accessibility isn't a destination. It's an ongoing commitment to making Padlet work for everyone.
